When COVID-19 rules were announced for Farmers Markets, it was discussed that the City needs a location that is a large enough area to follow the Governor’s guidelines for social distancing to provide safety for both vendors and patrons.
University Club parking lot provided enough space for safe drive-through and walk-ins. I contacted UI’s David Kieft about using the University Club parking lot for the Farmers Market. However, the UI had to regretfully decline the request as they need the parking lot to provide additional safe parking during this pandemic for staff, patients, and visitors to UIHC. We appreciate David’s efforts in trying to obtain permission, but it is understandable that the UIHC needs additional parking during this time.
Therefore, the 2020 University Heights Farmers Market has been cancelled.
I look forward to planning a Farmers Market for 2021.
